Over the last 30 years we've worked with many of the world's leading broadcast corporations.

IPE is one of the UK's leading broadcast systems integration companies, providing turnkey services over a wide range of technologies. We design, install and commission the technical facilities in radio and television studios. Nearly everyone in the UK will have watched TV or heard radio programmes that were produced in studios that we've built, from Strictly Come Dancing to everything on Radio 1.

The company was founded on 1st April 1983, and with a staff of two, it became one of the first tenants of the embryonic Melbourn Science Park on the outskirts of Cambridge. Today, our team consists of audio and software engineers who manage to blend in-depth technical knowledge with a passion for emerging technologies. Our track record is one of continued success, delivering state-of-the-art solutions into live environments with minimal disruption, on time and to budget.

Services

As an independent, private limited company we are not tied to any other manufacturers or equipment suppliers meaning we are well placed to provide practical project management solutions, offering impartial advice and supplying the most appropriate technology to meet our customer's requirements.

Our current premises enable us to work on several projects simultaneously, providing space to build and test all our system installations before shipping them to site. This significantly reduces our on-site installation time. In the past we've even had three OB vehicles parked side by side for fitting out!

Recently we've been heavily involved in the BBC's rebuilding programme at Broadcasting House, we've worked on three major installations at the new Media City complex in Manchester and have ongoing projects with BBC, BSkyB and ITV. During our 29 year history, we have completed projects all over the world, designing and installing systems for many of the worlds leading broadcast organisations.

Our core areas of expertise are:
  • newsroom textWe have a wealth of experience designing, supplying and installing both radio and television studios and complete stations.

Close collaboration with our customer's technical and operational staff combined with our normal practice of extensive prefabrication is a significant factor in achieving our rapid on-site installation time. It's this approach that has helped us win work with broadcasters all over the world.

  • newsroom textOur systems are designed to give presenters and producers easier control over more display elements. We employ touch screen technology for remote control of various hardware devices, enabling interaction with Studer mixing desks, the display of real-time information and a variety of TV or web channels.

  • IDS, our control and display systemMonitoring and control systems are some of the most critical components of broadcast networks and are constantly changing as systems become automated and digitized.

We have developed our own IP-based management system, IDS, designed specifically for today's broadcast installations. Click here for more information.

  • playout textOur expertise in audio and communications is often called upon during the design and commissioning of transmission facilities, which are usually spread across a number of buildings, floors and areas.

We have extensive experience in this area, installing systems that enable any workstation to monitor, control and communicate with any programme strand within multi-channel transmission playout facilities.
